The inauguration ceremony was attended by the deputy mayor and delegate for Culture, along with members of the local government and the jury of the IV Manuel Fernández Mota Literature Contest: Bahía de Papel.
The XXXIX Book Fair began its activities with the opening speech by a prominent poet and director of the Revista Dos Orillas, who highlighted the book's role as a cultural bridge and the relevance of Hispanism in a strategic area like the Strait of Gibraltar. Following the inaugural address, the verdict of the IV Manuel Fernández Mota Literature Contest: Bahía de Papel was announced, with the award going to author Ana Leonor Tonda for her work La ladrona de sueños.
