During his visit to Algeciras, García, accompanied by Leticia Blanco, the number two on the electoral list for Cádiz, highlighted the urgent need to improve public transport in the region. Both emphasized the necessity of a solution to the congestion on the A-7, which impacts thousands of daily commuters and students.
“"It cannot be that we continue with the A-7 as it is, saturated, absolutely congested, and workers, students, people who need to move around the region, enduring an unsustainable situation. Therefore, a tram for Campo de Gibraltar."
Blanco, a native of Los Barrios, underscored the region's employment dynamics, where it is common for residents to work in different municipalities from where they live, including the numerous cross-border workers commuting to Gibraltar. This reality, according to the candidate, makes an efficient transport network indispensable.
García asserted that the tram's implementation would be a non-negotiable condition in any pact or investiture agreement his party might support. “This will be our obsession this election campaign,” he declared, demonstrating Adelante Andalucía's firm commitment to this project.
Furthermore, the spokesperson for Adelante Andalucía criticized Vox's recent visit to the region, urging them to prioritize labor rights over identity debates. García drew attention to the situation of 16,000 cross-border workers, of whom 11,600 are from Campo de Gibraltar and 5,600 from La Línea, whose rights he believes are at risk.
