The artist, known professionally as Conchi Trudier, visited the Campo de Gibraltar on April 29 to deliver a lecture titled Narrative in Self-Publishing. During this event, she offered students an honest perspective on her creative process and the opportunities provided by comics and fanzines.
Currently based in Madrid, the illustrator has built a career that merges fashion illustration, with collaborations for major brands, with a clear inclination towards graphic storytelling. Her work is distinguished by a colorful and costumbrista style, incorporating surreal elements to explore everyday scenes and anecdotes with an ironic and, at times, critical touch.
“"Self-publishing is a space of creative freedom where artists can explore without filters or commercial constraints, experimenting with formats and narratives that would hardly fit into more conventional circuits."
The illustrator, who completed her artistic baccalaureate at the Algeciras School of Art, was recognized in 2024 as a New Talent by the Professional Association of Illustrators of Madrid (APIM), where she currently serves as vice president. From the capital, she balances professional commissions with authorial projects and press collaborations.
Among her future plans is the initiative to create a self-publishing and fanzine festival in La Línea de la Concepción. This project, already presented to the City Council, aims to transform the city into a meeting point for emerging and established creators in the sector.
