The festivity, organized by the Brotherhood of San Marcos in collaboration with the municipal delegation of Festivities of the City Council, began with the vigil mass at the Church of the Ex-Convent of San Francisco de la Asunción. Musical activities planned for the Velá in Parque del Garrotalillo had to be postponed to Saturday due to rain forecasts.
Early on Saturday morning, the processional parade of the image of San Marcos began, traversing the streets of the urban center before heading to Parque del Garrotalillo. The itinerary included Adolfo Suárez Avenue and Plaza de los Jarales, with the arrival at the venue expected after noon.
The image of San Marcos was accompanied by numerous horse riders, highlighting moments such as the encounter with the Virgen de los Desamparados and the stop at the headquarters of the Los Castellares Association. Once in Garrotalillo, attendees enjoyed gastronomic tastings with typical dishes of the region, such as salmorejo and the popular “ensalá sanmarqueña”.
The pilgrimage concluded around eight in the evening with the return of the image to its canonical headquarters, ending the processional parade around ten at night. As the pilgrimage fell on a Saturday this year, Parque del Garrotalillo remained open for camping until Sunday afternoon.
