This designation, which represents a fundamental step for the international projection of local pottery, will coincide with an international meeting to be held on October 1st and 2nd. This event, organized together with the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics, will bring together experts, master artisans, and institutional representatives from various European countries, such as Italy, France, Portugal, and the Czech Republic, in La Rambla and Cordoba.
During these days, the Ceramics Museum will host the official opening of the new headquarters and the awards ceremony for the 96th International Pottery and Ceramics Competition ENBARRO 2026. Additionally, the exhibition will return to the Ceramics Warehouses, the original site of this historic event.
The goal of this European capital status is to centralize the coordination of transnational projects, facilitate access to community funds, and foster innovation in the sector. Furthermore, synergies will be explored between high-quality ceramics and the Cordovan jewelry industry to boost the competitiveness and visibility of local products in the international market.
The ENBARRO centenary commemoration (1926-2026) will also serve to discuss the future challenges of the craft, including sustainability, generational renewal, and the protection of European cultural identity in the pottery field.
