The Rocío Brotherhood of Puente Genil has commenced its traditional pilgrimage to the Almonteño village with a record participation of 250 pilgrims, showcasing the deep devotion to the Virgin in the town.

The departure took place from the Santiago neighborhood, where the traditional pilgrim's mass was held early in the morning. The event was filled with emotion, cheers for the Blanca Paloma, and Rocío songs, followed by the start of the journey amidst applause from family and neighbors.
With over 800 members, the Rocío Brotherhood of Puente Genil is one of the most significant in the province of Córdoba. It is notable for being the second brotherhood in the province to undertake the longest journey entirely through paths and trails.
The expedition not only gathers residents from Puente Genil but also numerous Rocío devotees from nearby towns such as Herrera, Estepa, El Rubio, and Montilla, highlighting the brotherhood's regional and open character.
One of the pilgrimage's peak moments will be a mass officiated by the Bishop of Córdoba, an event of great spiritual significance for the pilgrims.
Among the most significant stages is the passage through Coria del Río, a traditional and highly anticipated stop before finally entering the routes towards El Rocío village.
The province of Córdoba has other Rocío brotherhoods in Montoro, Córdoba, Priego de Córdoba, Lucena, and Cabra, but that of Puente Genil stands out annually for the size of its contingent and the involvement of its members in this tradition that blends faith, community, and Rocío devotion.
