The town of La Rambla, recognized as a significant ceramic production center on the peninsula, is represented at the 2026 International Ceramic Festival Argillà. The event, taking place in Argentona (Barcelona), brings together ceramists from various countries including Spain, France, Slovenia, Hungary, Morocco, and Poland.
The president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, highlighted the importance of this participation as a "unique opportunity for the promotion of the pottery sector" on an international stage. He noted that La Rambla's presence coincides with the centenary of EnBarro, an anniversary that underscores the town's long history as a ceramic benchmark.
Fuentes emphasized that La Rambla has been designated the guest municipality for the festival, demonstrating the historical and future connection of both cities with clay. The organization of Argillà has defined La Rambla as the largest ceramic production center on the peninsula, an acknowledgment that brings pride.
It was recalled that La Rambla was recognized in 2012 as the first Artisan Interest Zone in Andalusia, a sector that generates over 600 direct jobs and considerable economic activity linked to commerce, logistics, and tourism. The province of Córdoba thus consolidates itself as the Andalusian leader in decorative ceramic sales.
Recently, the Junta de Andalucía recognized the craft of Ceramic Piece Painting and Decoration, a historical demand that highlights the work, predominantly by women, of the rambleñas in contributing creativity and value to these pieces.
For his part, the mayor of La Rambla, Jorge Jiménez, expressed his satisfaction at being the invited town and thanked the Provincial Council for its support to the sector, considering it part of the town's identity and economic development.
Within the framework of the festival, the exhibition 'Museum of Ceramics of La Rambla' was inaugurated in the Salón de Piedra, and the official opening of Argillà Argentona took place in Plaza Nova. In attendance at these events, alongside the members of the Cordoban delegation, were the mayor of Argentona, Montserrat Capdevila, and the former president of the Generalitat de Cataluña, Pere Aragonés.
