The fourteenth edition of the Festival de las Letras de La Puebla de Cazalla is drawing to a close after offering a diverse cultural agenda that has included poetry, thought, music, visual arts, and educational activities. This event has solidified its proposal by combining various artistic disciplines.
One of the central moments this Friday will be the premiere of the videopoem Utopía at Sala Victoria at 8:00 PM. Directed by Pablo Barco Ballesteros with text by Juan Sebastián Bollaín, the event will feature the presence of the director and the artist Felipe Bollaín.
The evening will continue with a conversation on poetry and thought led by philosopher Santiago Alba Rico, renowned for his influence in critical Hispanic thought. Alba Rico will also offer a poetry recital, accompanied by the group Fandila, known for their fusion of popular Andalusian music, Maghreb sounds, and Granada rock.
On Saturday, the festival's final day, activities will begin in the morning at Plaza de Andalucía with a popular book exchange market, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The square will also host storytelling by Elisilla Mantequilla at 11:00 AM, an awards ceremony for the year's most avid readers and book donors to the Municipal Public Library at 12:00 PM, and the usual open mic session starting at 12:30 PM, with music by Fandila.
The closing gala, at 8:00 PM in Sala Victoria, will feature a poetic recital by three prestigious contemporary voices: Asturian poet Rocío Acebal, one of the most celebrated young authors in current Spanish poetry, awarded the Hiperión Prize; Huelva writer and poet Elisa Fernández Guzmán, winner of the National Young Poetry Prize from the Ministry of Culture; and the Hispano-German poet José F. A. Oliver, director of the prestigious international Hausacher LeseLenz festival and author of some twenty books.
The evening will include live music from guitarist and composer Raúl Rodríguez and will honor Hausacher LeseLenz, held in Germany's Black Forest and considered one of Europe's most prestigious international literary gatherings. This cultural exchange reinforces the international vocation of the Festival de las Letras, which from its inception has aimed to build bridges between literary traditions and bring voices from different geographies to Andalucía.
