The Jerez City Council continues its plan to improve sidewalks and accessibility in various districts, currently working on Juan Carlos I Avenue. The actions include repairing existing pavement defects and creating concrete shelters at several bus stops to make waiting more comfortable and safer for users.
Jaime Espinar, Deputy Mayor for Public Services, explained that these works are part of the Comprehensive Plan for Sidewalk and Accessibility Improvement. In addition to repairing raised tree pits and eliminating existing sinkholes, a neighborhood demand has been met with the creation of four shelters at the stops on the right side of the avenue.
Espinar noted that previously, public transport users had to wait in unconditioned areas, sometimes with weeds, which worsened during bad weather. With these new shelters, the City Council aims to dignify and secure the waiting experience, adding an improvement to the service while progressing towards the gradual installation of bus shelters.
These interventions are part of a broader continuous improvement plan that includes simultaneous actions on other streets such as Olivar de Rivero, and will soon extend to the Western district and other city streets.
