On June 26, the jury convened to deliberate on the works submitted to the "Álvarez Tendero" Literary Contest, which this year was sponsored by the City Council of Arjona and collaborated with C.E.I.P "S. Bonoso y San Maximiano", I.E.S. "Ciudad de Arjona", and the Alumni Association of D. Manuel Álvarez Tendero.
The jury, chaired by Ms. Antonia García Escabias, Councilor for Culture, comprised representatives from the educational, legal, and journalistic fields, as well as former students and cultural figures.
In the youth categories, the first prizes were awarded to Sara Corpas García for "Otra dimensión" in Category A (5th and 6th grade Primary); Pedro Real Urbano for "El hilo rojo" in Category B-1 (1st and 2nd year Secondary); Ángela Chincolla Vidal for "No te alejes, poesía" in Category B-2 (3rd and 4th year Secondary); and María José Mercado Jiménez for "Donde el silencio empieza" in Category B-3 (1st and 2nd year Baccalaureate).
In the "Arjona" Award for Short Story - Senior Category, the first prize went to "Cine Cervantes", under the pseudonym "Orión", by José Francisco Sierra Castillo. The finalist work was "Los días que nos siguen" by Joaquín García Corpas.
The First Prize of the "Arjona" Award for Short Story, with a prize of 2,000 euros and a trophy, was awarded to "Cría ciervos", submitted under the pseudonym "Albita Brevis". Its author, Victoriano Alcalde, from Irún, is known for his musical background and numerous literary awards. The story is described as a magical tale of impossible love with carefully crafted language.
The Second Prize, consisting of 1,000 euros and a plaque, was given to "Dos muertos y medio", authored by Carlos García Valverde. This graphic designer and musician, with an extensive history of literary awards across Spain, presents a story focused on "bad luck".
