The competition, which will run uninterruptedly from 09:00 to 21:00 hours, aims to promote sports practice and camaraderie around swimming. The Councilor for Sports, José Domingo Castro, highlighted the club's involvement and the participation of residents in keeping this event alive.
Two categories have been established: Category A, for swimmers born in 2014 and later, and Category B, for swimmers born in 2013 and earlier. Category A teams will consist of 6 swimmers, while Category B teams will have 4 members. Category A teams may choose to participate in Category B if they wish.
The regulations specify that lane assignments will be by draw and that one swimmer per team must remain in the assigned lane for the entire 12 hours. Relays will occur every 30 minutes, as indicated by judges who will record the meters swum by each team. A minimum distance per leg of 700 meters for Category B and 500 meters for Category A is required, with disqualification being the consequence of not meeting this.
Once the competition begins, swimmers in the first four relays for Category B and the first six relays for Category A cannot be substituted. Judges may disqualify teams that do not compete seriously and sportingly at any time. Only swimmers at the moment of the relay change will be allowed in the judges' area.
Susana Muñoz, president of the Baena Swimming Club, confirmed the participation of numerous children from the club, as well as teams from other towns such as Córdoba, Nueva Carteya, and Montoro. Teams can be male, female, or mixed, with a maximum of 16 teams competing across the eight available lanes.
Organizers encourage the residents of Baena to visit the Municipal Summer Pool to enjoy this sporting event, which is expected to be a celebration of effort, companionship, and sportsmanship.
