The fair will bring together over 50 stalls featuring artisans such as ceramists, lacemakers, carpenters, basket weavers, perfumers, and jewelers, offering an experience that combines craftsmanship, gastronomy, heritage, and culture.
Félix Romero, delegate for Economic Development of the Provincial Council, highlighted that Castro del Río will showcase one of its most complete identities, including olive wood craftsmanship and agri-food products protected by the DOPs of Baena oils and Montilla-Moriles.
The mayor, Julio Criado, emphasized the commitment to the local identity based on olive wood craftsmanship and the legacy of Miguel de Cervantes in the town.
Ana Rosa Ruz, second deputy mayor, highlighted the City Council's dedication to olive wood craftsmanship, a national and international benchmark, and the offering of practical workshops for citizens to learn artisan work, including wood carving, embroidery, and soap making.
The program will kick off on Friday, October 9, with an open house at the museums for educational centers and the official inauguration at the Plaza de Armas del Castillo at 7:30 PM, including the presentation of the 'Honorary Artisans' award to the Association of Bobbin Lacemakers.
Friday's activities will include workshops on 'Natural Cosmetics', 'The Art of Net Weaving', and 'Bat Nest Boxes', as well as a 'Retrospective Exhibition of the International Contests of La Rambla' at the Municipal Pósito and a street theater performance about 'Cervantes and his time in Castro del Río'.
On Saturday, October 10, activities related to craftsmanship, gastronomy, and heritage will take place, including a traditional breakfast, children's workshops, gastronomic tastings, street flamenco, and workshops on macramé and essential oils.
Sunday, October 11, will continue the program with a tasting of 'Cervantine Migas', children's activities, gastronomic tastings, and street parades, as well as concerts by the Coral Alfonso X el Sábio and the Music Band ‘90 years without Lorca’ with Lucía Leiva as guest artist.
