The Cádiz Free Trade Zone received a distinction last Friday from the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of Cádiz. This recognition underscores the close relationship between both institutions, focused on the Blue Economy ecosystem and connecting academic talent with the business sector.
The State Delegate for the Free Trade Zone, Fran González, accepted the award at an event held at the Puerto Real Campus, coinciding with the graduation ceremony for the 2025-26 academic year. The distinction acknowledges the «continuous and strategic collaboration with the university community and, especially, with the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences».
The Free Trade Zone maintains a solid alliance with officials, members, graduates, and students of the UCA, materialized through joint work initiatives. A significant number of startups from Incubazul Blue Core have been or are part of the university community.

The upcoming Blue Zone Forum-Innovazul event next autumn will further strengthen this alliance, uniting efforts within the Consorcio's Blue Economy ecosystem with a focus on technology, research, and knowledge transfer. Previously, both entities collaborated on Innovazul Caribe and maintain links through the UCA Social Council and CEI-Mar.
The Dean of the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, Javier Benavente, highlighted the importance of these synergies, which benefit the province's productive sector with university advancements and, in turn, improve degrees and graduate employability.
