The works, promoted by Aguas de Cádiz, are expected to last about one month and will require opening the entire width of the roadway at the height of República El Salvador Street. This situation will prevent the complete circumvention of the historic center by vehicle, in both directions.
The municipal delegations of Mobility and Local Police have reported that, as a consequence of this closure, traffic restrictions will be implemented in Plaza Argüelles and Plaza de la Hispanidad to prevent vehicle access towards Honduras Street. Additionally, special signage will be installed on affected roads and in Simón Bolívar Roundabout to guide drivers and pedestrians.
This project is part of the ‘Project for the digitization of sanitation networks, discharge to receiving media, and underground water intakes within the framework of the PERTE WATERCOGPC project’, funded by European Next Generation funds and executed by the company Tektia Global SL. Its objective is to modernize the city's hydraulic infrastructures by incorporating digitization systems to improve management and control.
The City Council has assured that pedestrian access to homes and commercial premises, as well as vehicular access to authorized garages, will be guaranteed. Garage users will be able to access their properties via Conde O’Reilly Street, República El Salvador Street, Costa Rica Street, avenida del Descubrimiento, Méjico Street, and San Carlos Street, and exceptionally through the enabled section of Honduras Street.
Public transport will also undergo modifications; urban bus line 2 will temporarily move its starting and ending stop to the ‘Alameda Clara Campoamor’ stop, located on Isabel la Católica Street, near Plaza Argüelles. Municipal authorities recommend that all citizens pay attention to provisional signage and follow the instructions of the Local Police and construction personnel.
