The leading candidate for the PP in Cádiz, Antonio Sanz, has announced a 52.7 million euro investment from the Junta de Andalucía for the recovery of Jerez and the Guadalete River, following severe floods that impacted the countryside.
During a visit to the rural area of Jerez, Antonio Sanz, who also serves as a counselor for the Junta de Andalucía, highlighted the regional government's commitment to the recovery of the Jerez countryside. This comprehensive investment aims to mitigate the effects of the disaster and bolster the agricultural and livestock sectors in the region.

"There were those who criticized us at the time and dared to say that we only came for photos. The easiest thing is to come when the water levels are high; the difficult part, and where a government's stature is measured, is in the recovery phase, when people are often left alone."
Sanz underscored the importance of public servants maintaining their presence in the territory beyond critical emergency moments, contrasting his approach with that of other leaders. He emphasized that a policy of "actions" is demonstrated during the recovery phase, when support is most needed.
The shock plan for Jerez's rural arteries has made significant progress, with emergency works reaching 70% overall completion. Some areas, such as Cañada de Lomopardo and Cañada del Carrillo, exceed 95%. These interventions include the comprehensive rehabilitation of roads and livestock trails, with ditch cleaning and gully restoration, to ensure passability and public safety.
In addition to road improvements, 1.51 million euros will be allocated to "turnkey" aid for rural roads. The investment in the Guadalete River will be "unprecedented," with a first phase of 1.37 million euros for morphological restoration and removal of vegetation. A second phase, already in tender, will add 16 million euros for actions from La Barca to the Azud de El Portal. The package is completed with 31.8 million in direct aid for farmers and ranchers and 1.46 million for damaged municipal infrastructure.

"The people of Jerez need promises to be kept and for them to be with us through thick and thin. Always, with your hand, we will have a friendly, committed government, and above all, a government of Law that keeps its word. And that is what we need in Jerez."
The mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, expressed gratitude for Antonio Sanz's constant presence and lamented the lack of support from the central government, noting that the promised office for processing subsidies has not materialized. Sanz concluded by reaffirming the Junta de Andalucía's commitment: "We are not going to leave people stranded. We return, we are here, and we will deliver."
