The municipal company Cádiz 2012 has seen a notable improvement in salary conditions for two of its five employees, thanks to the persistence of the Popular Party's governing team. This decision, which was previously attempted in November of the previous year, has now been finalized, raising the salaries of the beneficiaries by 15% and 20%.
The company's manager will see their annual remuneration increase from 49,050.74 euros (gross salary for 2025) to 61,293.40 euros in 2026, representing an increase of over 11,500 euros. This measure is also retroactive from January 1. Additionally, a technician at the company will increase their salary from 41,334.29 euros in 2025 to 48,885.87 euros this year, a raise of 6,931.57 euros.
The PP justifies these increases by arguing that the manager's salary was lower than that of another Cádiz 2012 employee, and that their remuneration was the lowest among municipal company managers in the Cádiz City Council. It is also highlighted that the manager performs economic and administrative functions without support staff. For the technician, the aim was to equalize their salary with that of other technicians in the Cádiz City Council.
“"The function it currently performs could be directly assumed by any department or area of the City Council itself without the need to channel it through a commercial company."
A legal report supports these increases, noting that the total increase of 18,438.47 euros is significantly less than the cost of hiring new personnel to perform the same functions. However, this decision contrasts with a 2025 Intervention report that questioned the necessity of the Cádiz 2012 company, suggesting its functions could be directly assumed by the City Council.
Although the legal report indicates that the salary increases are included in the Cádiz 2012 budget for 2026 and should not negatively impact it, the estimated accounts for 2025 show a positive balance of only 3,241.25 euros. This suggests that, had these increases been applied in 2025, the municipal company would have again recorded a negative balance of approximately 15,000 euros, as occurred in previous years.
