The literary event in Cádiz will feature an extensive program with over a dozen activities. The universe of the series Stranger Things will be present at the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar at 12:30 PM, with the official comic presentation by Diego Galindo. In the afternoon, at 8:30 PM, writer and journalist Juan Tallón will unveil his most recent narrative work, Mil cosas, in the same venue.
Juan Tallón, born in Vilardevós (Ourense) in 1975, holds a degree in Philosophy and is a regular contributor to national media. His literary career includes titles such as El váter de Onetti, Rewind, Obra maestra, and El mejor del mundo, as well as essays like Libros peligrosos. His participation is expected to be a highlight of the fair.
The day's program will commence at 11:30 AM with the presentation of issue number 10 of Alikindoi at the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar, featuring participants and organizers of the ‘Érase una vez en Benaocaz’ project.
Children and young adult audiences will be a significant focus. At 12:00 PM, in the Sala José Manuel Caballero Bonald, Amadeo y los 5 cofres by Arnold Faivre will be presented, aimed at readers aged eight and above. In the same space at 12:30 PM, De Algeciras a La Colonia. Recetas de mis abuelas y otras delicias will be introduced, with the participation of Juan Luis Otero Jiménez. Additionally, at 1:00 PM in the Sala Josela Maturana, Belén Pérez Daza will present El legado de Valeria, also targeted at children.
The youth program will continue in the afternoon, at 7:30 PM in the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar, with the presentation of El caos de Beca by Raquel Díaz Reguera, for readers aged 9 to 12. The midday schedule also includes the presentation of Misión Andalucía at 12:00 PM in the Sala José Luis Cano, by journalist Juan María Rodríguez and the Asociación Fotocolectivo 35 mm. At the same time, in the Sala Josela Maturana, Pablo Macías Partida will present Zumbío.
Poetry will have its moment at 7:30 PM in the Sala José Luis Cano with Brindis de la mar y de la tierra, a bilingual anthology of poetry from Cádiz compiled by Khalid Raissouni. At 8:00 PM, in the Sala Josela Maturana, Guía sentimental de Buenos Aires by Sergio Hojman will be presented.
In addition to the event with Juan Tallón, the afternoon schedule includes the presentation of the publishing house Ediciones Sin Fin, by Bruno Montané, in the Sala José Luis Cano, and the discussion Los monstruos en la obra de Tolkien, organized by the collective Smial Cima de los Vientos de Cádiz in the Sala José Manuel Caballero Bonald.
The day will continue at 9:00 PM with a musical reading of La ecuación de Dirac by Alicia Domínguez, in the Sala Josela Maturana. At 9:30 PM, the Espacio Pilar Paz Pasamar will host a discussion marking the 30th anniversary of the Presencias Literarias program at the University, with contributions from Antonio Javier González, Manuel Ramos Ortega, and Nieves Vázquez Recio.
The day will conclude at 11:00 PM with a jazz concert, “Una jam para Salvador Catalán,” on the stage bearing his name. Throughout the day, the fair will also feature author signings at various stands, with notable participants including David B. Gil, Francisco Aguilar, Richard Stine, Jesús Relinque, and Juan Gómez Mesa, among others.
The 41st Cádiz Book Fair is taking place at the Baluarte de la Candelaria until July 5th, with opening hours from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The venue will remain open after concerts until 1:00 AM.
