The Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía has approved the expenditure for the contracting of home respiratory therapy services for patients in the healthcare centers of the province of Cádiz. The total amount is 34,502,081.25 euros, VAT exempt, aiming to guarantee the continuity of specialized home care for those with chronic respiratory conditions.
This contract, with an initial duration of 36 months and a possible 24-month extension, includes the provision of various treatments such as chronic oxygen therapy, treatments for obstructive sleep apnea, home mechanical ventilation, aerosol therapy, and cough assistance. It will cover patients from key hospitals including the University Hospital of Jerez de la Frontera, the Puerta del Mar University Hospital of Cádiz, the Puerto Real University Hospital, the La Línea de la Concepción Hospital, and the Punta Europa University Hospital of Algeciras.
Significant improvements are incorporated to enhance care quality and personalized attention. These include continuous treatment monitoring, permanent technological updates of devices, expansion of the service portfolio, and the implementation of advanced information systems for individualized patient tracking and better coordination with healthcare professionals.
The service design aims to improve the life expectancy and quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory conditions, alleviate limitations from respiratory failure, and promote social integration. It also seeks to reduce avoidable decompensations and hospitalizations through closer, personalized treatment follow-up.
Through this initiative, the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) reinforces its patient-centered home care model, facilitating access to complex therapies at home and ensuring uniform care for both adult and pediatric populations throughout the province of Cádiz. The update also addresses the increase in patients and the need to adapt technological and human resources to the growing complexity of this service, which is part of the National Health System's common portfolio.
