The works, framed within the Cádiz Marcha Plan promoted by the Provincial Council of Cádiz, have brought the sidewalks into compliance with current accessibility regulations, facilitating pedestrian traffic and removing architectural barriers on Porvenir Street.
As part of this action, new tree pits have been opened, and six old tree stumps have been removed. In their place, twelve 'liquidambar' specimens have been planted. This species is known for its deciduous foliage and its autumn color change, completing the street's comprehensive remodeling.
The choice of 'liquidambar' is due to its adaptability to urban environments and its considerable growth, in addition to replacing and increasing the number of existing trees. This initiative aligns with the municipal objective of maintaining and renewing urban trees in various areas of Jerez.
This intervention on Porvenir Street adds to other recent plantings in the city, such as the replacement of trees on Santo Domingo Street with species like bitter orange and Japanese apple, and actions in the Torrox lagoon and other urban environments near social and educational groups.
