The awarding of the construction contract, with a budget of 19.1 million euros, represents a significant milestone for the capital of Cádiz. This project, which includes a contribution of five million euros from the Provincial Council, promises to bring life back to a neighborhood that lost its sports emblem 18 years ago.
“"We had to close the open wound of the Portillo pavilion."
The reconstruction process has been complex, requiring the management of additional funds to reach the total necessary budget. The work, which will have an execution period of 30 months, will not begin immediately due to bureaucratic procedures and the appeals period, with its start estimated after the Health and Safety Plan is finalized.
The new Fernando Portillo Pavilion, which will have a capacity for 2,105 people, is seen as a commitment to citizens, especially athletes, and an opportunity to boost the local economy. Authorities have highlighted the collaboration between the City Council, the Cádiz Provincial Council, and the Junta de Andalucía as key to making this project a reality.
