Five years after its approval by the local Government Board in June 2021, the stadium where Cádiz C. F. plays its matches lacked physical signage reflecting its current designation, which replaced the former Ramón de Carranza stadium.
Sources from the Cádiz City Council stated that work for the installation of the signs "will be done" and that they are already "working on it", although without specifying an exact date for the milestone.
This confirmation comes after the formal submission of a request for Administrative Certification and Access to File by the citizen platform Carranza Incumple. The organization demanded from the mayor, Bruno García, the obtaining of official documents to compel the City Council to "immediately" install the name 'Nuevo Mirandilla' on the main facade.
Carranza Incumple's action follows the Cádiz CF SAD's withdrawal of its request to reinstate the name Carranza, due to commercial sponsorship commitments. Subsequently, the municipal plenary session decided to definitively close the name change file opened in 2024.
The name change, carried out by the previous government team citing non-compliance with the Democratic Memory Law, had been an electoral promise by the Popular Party to reverse. However, the current mayor, Bruno García, had stated on several occasions that the modification "was not a priority" for his government.
Finally, in July 2024, the initiation of the name change process was announced, formally agreed upon in the Local Government Board in early August of that year. The debate over the stadium's designation officially concluded in June 2026, when the municipal Plenary session closed the file, following pronouncements for and against, and even warnings from the Central Government regarding the potential non-compliance with the Historical Memory Law with the name Carranza.
