Poverty in the province of Cádiz is no longer limited to occasional situations but is becoming chronic, affecting individuals who remain for years in job insecurity, facing difficulties accessing housing and insufficient income. This is one of the main conclusions from the 2025 Activity Report of Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz.

During 2025, the organization supported over 4,000 people through various social programs, reflecting the persistence of vulnerability. These figures align with the FOESSA Andalucía 2025 Report, which places social exclusion at 23.1% in the autonomous community, particularly affecting households headed by women with children.

A concerning phenomenon is the rise of 'working poor,' individuals with employment who still struggle to cover basic expenses like rent, food, or utilities. Housing has become a major concern due to rising prices and a lack of affordable alternatives, compounded by an increase in homelessness.

Parishes, through 83 volunteer teams, played a key role in identifying and supporting 4,261 families (over 14,000 people), offering not only material aid but also guidance and close support.

Employment integration remains a priority: 721 individuals participated in employment pathways, with 230 securing jobs. The Training School conducted 59 courses for 232 people, leading to over a hundred subsequent job placements. Caritas also assisted 843 homeless individuals with various resources.

This work was made possible by 607 volunteers and 38 professionals, with an investment exceeding 2.4 million euros in 2025. The organization emphasizes the need to address structural causes, such as access to decent employment and adequate housing, to combat social exclusion.
