This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES), primarily aims to promote outdoor physical activity and local tourism in various locations within the province of Cadiz.
The Monarch Butterflies trail is a circular route spanning 13.4 kilometers, classified as having a medium-low difficulty, making it suitable for hikers with a moderate fitness level. Its name comes from the presence of this butterfly species in the area, adding a unique natural appeal to the journey.
The day will commence at 9:30 AM with participant registration at the Venta La Cantina Parking, located on the La Almoraima road. From this point, hikers will embark on a route through one of the richest natural environments in the Campo de Gibraltar.
After completing the route, around 1:45 PM, a social gathering is planned at the Cerro del Moro Recreational Area, also in Castellar, to strengthen the social aspect of the activity. Although the circuit includes a classification, the Provincial Council emphasizes that the focus is recreational, seeking participation from anyone, whether in the full circuit or individual routes.
The registration fee for this first event is approximately 3.5 euros for non-federated individuals, covering a one-day license, which facilitates access to the activity.
