This initiative, to be officially presented at the Council of Mayors, seeks not only to repair the damage caused by last winter's heavy rains but also to promote the long-term development of the province. The new plan, named 'Cádiz Marcha + 2026', exceeds the 16 million euros of the previous edition.
The Provincial Council's strategy of using treasury surpluses to foster municipal investments is not new, having been implemented in previous years with programs such as 'Invierte' or 'Dipu-Inver'. The current provincial government has maintained this approach, adapting the name and significantly expanding the plan's scope.
Unlike previous editions, where only municipal investments were subsidized, 'Cádiz Marcha + 2026' will cover a broader range of needs. This includes the repair and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, the provision of goods and services, funding for cleaning and waste collection services resulting from floods, and even the hiring of external technical assistance. The 45 municipalities of the province and the ten Autonomous Local Entities (ELAs) will be the beneficiaries of this program, managed by the Local Development and Municipal Assistance area.
“"The vision must be broader, more long-term. It is about seizing this opportunity, turning adversity into an incentive that allows the relaunch of the province for years to come."
Additionally, the provincial institution will implement two other actions aimed at municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. A Technical Staff Hiring plan, endowed with 1.6 million euros, will facilitate the incorporation of professionals to manage procedures arising from the storms. Likewise, an Urban Planning plan, with a budget of 658,060 euros, will offer external assistance for drafting advance documents for urban planning schemes.
These three initiatives, totaling 36 million euros, complement the emergency actions already carried out or underway on provincial roads, whose expenditure by the Provincial Council already exceeds 22 million euros to mitigate storm damage.
