The program, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Sport through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, includes two events in collaboration with the Carlos Edmundo de Ory Foundation and one with the University of Cádiz. These cultural appointments will enrich the city's literary offerings in the second half of April.
On Saturday, April 18, writer Rocío Rojas-Marcos will present her book Miedo (Fundación Lara) at 12:30 PM at the headquarters of the Carlos Edmundo de Ory Foundation, located at Calle Ancha, 16. The author will engage in a dialogue with editor Ignacio F. Garmendia about her poetry collection, which explores fear through words and haikus, and will read excerpts from her work.
Subsequently, on Wednesday, April 29, also at the Carlos Edmundo de Ory Foundation, the Andalusian Center of Letters will host author Servando Rocha. He will share his research on William S. Burroughs and his stay in Tangier in the mid-20th century, presenting his novel Este corazón que sangra. William S. Burroughs y Kiki en Tánger (Alianza Editorial). Journalist and writer Juan José Téllez will converse with Rocha at 7:00 PM about this literary journey and Burroughs' relationship with Kiki, documented with texts, letters, and photographs. All mentioned activities are free to attend until full capacity is reached.
Additionally, since Wednesday, April 15, the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Cádiz has been hosting the exhibition José Manuel Caballero Bonald. La aventura de escribir. Curated by Felipe Benítez Reyes, the exhibition offers a chronological journey through the writer's life and work, and can be visited until May 25 at the faculty's Humanities Library, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
