The city of Cádiz begins its high cruise season in September, with an estimated 80 large vessels expected by year-end, stimulating the local economy.

The arrival of cruise ships marks the start of the high season in Cádiz. Approximately 80 of these large vessels are scheduled to dock at the port by the end of the year. This Friday alone saw around ten thousand tourists, who have become a familiar sight in the city, alongside landmarks like the Teatro Falla and La Caleta beach.
This tourism, though ephemeral and concentrated in the city center's streets during the day, has a positive impact on the local economy. According to Mara Muñoz of Cádiz City Tours, cruise ship activity benefits many residents, and collaboration with these ships is highly productive.
Cruise visitors, often likened to children at play due to their city activities, purchase postcards, enjoy outdoor cafes, and become a point of interest for locals. Rosa Pérez from Souvenirs La Suiza notes that European tourists who spend the most in her establishment are Italians, followed by the French, while Americans boost business when they arrive.
By the end of the year, seventy-nine cruise ships will dock at Cádiz's piers, with the majority scheduled for October. The future goal is for these ships, which already help to de-seasonalize tourism, to start overnight stays in Cádiz. This would require establishing the city as a home port, thereby extending the presence of these crowds in the streets into the evening.
