The province of Cádiz closed the month of June with 99,054 people seeking employment, breaking the psychological barrier of 100,000 unemployed for the first time in two decades.

The month of June has confirmed the downward trend in unemployment in the province of Cádiz, marking the fifth consecutive month of reduction. Data from the Ministry of Labor show a decrease of 3,933 unemployed people compared to the previous month, representing a 3.8% drop. This figure positions Cádiz as the second province with the best performance in Spain, surpassed only by Soria.
With this figure, the number of individuals seeking work at the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE) offices stands at 99,054. In year-on-year comparison, Cádiz has managed to reduce unemployment by 11.2% compared to June 2025, translating to 12,574 fewer unemployed. In this decline, Cádiz has surpassed Málaga, whose capital reduced its unemployed contingent by 3.06%.
By sectors, Services continues to be the main engine of job creation, particularly hospitality, which has reduced its unemployed list by 3,019 people. This sector accounts for 76% of the new labor market incorporations in June. Industry also saw a reduction of 183 unemployed, followed by Construction (-170) and Agriculture (-79). The Previously Unemployed category has also improved, with a reduction of 482 people.
The hiring level in June was also positive, with 15,853 permanent contracts and 28,937 temporary contracts signed at the SAE. So far this year, a total of 194,466 employment contracts have been registered in the province.
This upward trend in hiring is expected to continue until the end of summer, driven by the holiday season in the coastal area. Consultancies like Randstad had already anticipated that Andalusia would lead job creation in Spain during the summer of 2026, with a 13.2% increase compared to the previous year.
Among Andalusian provinces, Málaga is expected to lead job creation with 36,695 contracts, followed by Seville (27,510) and Cádiz (23,390). The province of Cádiz is increasing its figures by 2,595 contracts compared to last year's records, representing a 12.5% rise.
