The Cádiz contingent consists of 16 personnel, including a sergeant in command, and is equipped with five specialized vehicles: an off-road command unit, a transport van, and three heavy rural pumpers. The team's departure was scheduled for Monday night from the fire station in Jerez de la Frontera.
The deployment follows a formal request for assistance from the Ávila Provincial Council. Operations are being coordinated through the Association of Fire Consortia and Services of Spain (Conbé), in collaboration with the Cádiz Provincial Council.
The initial destination for the team is the town of El Barraco, while the Advanced Command Post responsible for coordinating the efforts has been established in Navaluenga.
The fire in Burgohondo has affected over 50,000 hectares, becoming the largest wildfire recorded in Spain's history. Adverse weather conditions, characterized by high temperatures and strong winds, continue to complicate containment and extinction efforts in the area.
