“"The general secretary and candidate for the Presidency of the Junta, María Jesús Montero, expressed satisfaction with the «democratic normality» with which, in her opinion, the list-making process has unfolded, although she opened the door for «some slight modification» in the order of the names proposed by the provincial executives, specifically regarding Cádiz, by the regional bodies responsible for validation."

The Andalusian PSOE is preparing for the definitive validation of its autonomous electoral lists this Friday, with attention focused on the province of Cádiz, where internal discrepancies persist and could lead to last-minute modifications in the composition of the candidacy.
The regional leadership of the party, headed by María Jesús Montero, has left open the possibility of making «adjustments» to the final order and configuration of the candidacies. This situation arises in a context of internal division, especially in Cádiz, where figures such as Fernando López Gil or Irene García could see their influence increase in the final proposal, contrasting with the initial suggestion from the provincial committee, led by Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, which proposed Juan Cornejo as the top candidate.
The Andalusian PSOE's Steering Committee, the federation's highest body between congresses, will meet this Friday in Cádiz to ratify the lists for the autonomous elections on May 17. These candidacies have been previously drafted by local assemblies and provincial groups, and include six new faces among their eight top candidates compared to the elections of June 19, 2022.
According to the proposals presented last Wednesday by the provincial executive committees, only the deputy general secretary of the PSOE-A, María Márquez, for Huelva, and the general secretary of the PSOE of Málaga, Josele Aguilar, for their respective provinces, are repeating as number one candidates. The candidate for the presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, María Jesús Montero, will lead the list for Sevilla.
The definitive approval process for the lists includes meetings of the Regional Ethics Commission, the Regional Lists Commission, and the Regional Executive Commission, all scheduled for this Friday. The final ratification will be carried out by the Federal Lists Commission.
The Steering Committee meeting will take place this Friday at 5:00 PM at the Parador de Cádiz, and will include an address by María Jesús Montero open to the media. In the province of Cádiz, the provincial leadership's proposal places Juan Cornejo, organizational secretary of the Cádiz PSOE, as number one, succeeding Irene García, who led the candidacy in 2022 and has served as second vice-president of the Andalusian Parliament. Joining him on the list are Rocío Arrabal as number two and Fernando López Gil as number three.
