The incident began when the Complex Operational Center of the Command received an alert from 112 regarding the elderly man's disappearance. According to the victim's son, his father had left Cortijo de los Barrancos around 1:00 PM and had not returned home.
After several hours of searching, the son located his father injured on an embankment, approximately 600 meters from the family farmhouse. The precise location allowed for the immediate activation of a rescue operation.
Members of the Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM) from Ubrique, along with a team of Firefighters from the same municipality, were dispatched to the scene. Access to the victim was challenging due to the rugged terrain and dense undergrowth.
Despite the poor nighttime visibility, rescuers reached the man, who was conscious but had multiple bruises and minor injuries, unable to move on his own. The team evacuated him on a stretcher to his home at Cortijo de los Barrancos.
Around 9:00 PM, an ambulance from the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) was waiting at the farmhouse to transport the injured man to Villamartín Hospital for medical evaluation.
Emergency services and the Guardia Civil have used this incident to emphasize the importance of alerting professionals in risk situations, highlighting that timely action is crucial to prevent complications.
We are here to help and prepared for critical situations, but acting promptly is a priority.
