Antonio Calle's coaching future appears to be taking a new direction. After being considered the primary candidate to lead Xerez DFC's project for the 26/27 season with the goal of promotion, the Madrid-born coach is moving away from the club. Calle has received an offer from Atlético Antoniano, a team competing in Segunda RFEF, which is seeking a new coach after Lolo Rosano's contract was not renewed.
Negotiations between Calle and the Lebrija-based club are well advanced, according to journalist Fran Barbosa of Cadena Ser. Antoniano awaits the coach's confirmation, which would mark his debut in the Segunda RFEF category. Calle arrives after two successful seasons with Bollullos in Tercera RFEF, narrowly missing the play-offs in the first year and participating in them in the second.
Although his experience in Segunda RFEF is limited, Calle had a brief stint with the reserve team of Recreativo de Huelva in the former Segunda B during the 20/21 season and also managed San Sebastián de los Reyes in Primera RFEF in 22/23. Additionally, he was part of Xisco Muñoz's staff at Huesca in Segunda División.
Xerez DFC remains in contact with the coach and will exhaust its options, but is already considering other names on its list of potential replacements. The club's sporting director, Dani Alejo, has emphasized the importance of the coach's role in the project and his desire to finalize the signing as soon as possible.
