The Camarón Interpretation Center will be the venue for this gathering, which is part of the municipal program for the so-called Camarón Year. Over two days, researchers, flamenco specialists, artists, journalists, and educators will meet to address the artistic, cultural, educational, and institutional dimensions of the singer.
The congress sessions can be followed both in person, with prior registration, and live through the official channel of the City Council. The program is structured into four thematic blocks: institutional, academic, pedagogical, and artistic, covering everything from the evolution of flamenco to its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010.
The academic section will focus on the development of university studies and research on flamenco, while the pedagogical aspect will explore the presence of the genre at different educational levels. In the artistic field, Camarón's contribution to the transformation of flamenco will be highlighted, with special attention to his album La Leyenda del Tiempo and his collaboration with Paco de Lucía.
Confirmed participants include prominent figures from the world of flamenco and culture, as well as family members of the artist, biographers, and representatives of flamenco clubs and professorships. The program will include presentations, round tables, and interviews, addressing various aspects of Camarón's life and work.
The congress will also dedicate a space to the centenary of Chato de La Isla, whose anniversary will begin in June. The organization has enabled a registration form for in-person attendance and has extended the invitation to universities, flamenco professorships, clubs, and associations, with the City Council reserving the possibility of expanding the list of participants.
This initiative reaffirms San Fernando's commitment to the figure of Camarón, placing him at the center of local cultural activity and combining academic reflection with artistic proposals around one of its most recognized references. The Camarón Year program also includes a tribute concert in July and a multi-artist show in December 2026 in Madrid.
