The San Fernando City Council has approved a credit modification to allocate 2.155 million euros for the comprehensive renovation of its traffic light network, aiming to improve road safety and energy efficiency.

The government team of San Fernando, led by Patricia Cavada, has greenlit a credit modification to advance projects that improve the city without waiting for a new budget. The most significant investment from this measure will go towards the complete renovation of the traffic light network, with a budget of 2,155,000 euros.
This strategic action includes the replacement of traffic lights, columns, and poles, as well as the creation of a modern traffic management center. The new intelligent communication system is expected to enhance road safety, reduce energy consumption, and facilitate the maintenance of this key infrastructure for urban mobility.
The Councilor for Budget and Tax Management, María Gómez, explained that this modification aims to expedite the renovation process, allowing for the initiation of administrative procedures, contract tendering, and having the file ready by September. This will enable the city to leverage external funding without losing any time.
The comprehensive renovation contract will also include the replacement of traffic lights for the Trambahía that regulate road traffic at the intersections of calle Real.

"A ruler's policy is measured by their budgetary decisions, by looking at how everyone's money is spent. And this government is exposed there."

Inmaculada Marín · Popular councilor
The opposition expressed criticism regarding the new credit modification. Popular councilor Inmaculada Marín questioned whether the government's budgetary priorities aligned with the city's needs. For their part, Vox councilor Ángel Aparicio raised doubts about the justification of urgency, citing a royal decree-law related to storms. The spokesperson for Ax Sí, Fran Romero, criticized the three credit modifications made so far this year, suggesting the budget was becoming 'watered-down paper'.
