A prominent sports director, originally from San Fernando, has been appointed as the new general sports director of RCD Espanyol, a decision that has generated anticipation in the football world.
The sports manager, known for his career in football, has joined the Velocity Sports Partners (VSP) group, led by an American businessman. This group owns clubs such as RCD Espanyol and the English club Burnley FC.
The new general sports director of the Catalan club has expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in his work vision, stating his commitment to the project through his social media channels.
“
"I am in a place where I have been shown affection from minute one and where they have believed in my work idea. I am sure that the future that begins today will demand greater effort and the greatest possible dedication from me to try to meet the demands."
In parallel with this new challenge, the executive has issued a statement addressed to the supporters of CD San Fernando, the team from his hometown of which he is president. In this letter, he confirmed that he will maintain his position at the helm of the 'azulino' team.
“
"I am going where they have respected my position as president of CD San Fernando 1940. No one should doubt my connection with CDSF. I have full confidence in the work group, in the employees and, above all, in you, 'azulinos', in the family that we islanders are, to continue growing daily."
The possible link between the sports director and Espanyol was a widespread rumor, especially after he was seen in the box at the RCDE Stadium during a match. This confirmation rules out speculation about a possible return to Sevilla FC, which was being considered in the event of a sale of the Nervión team to an American fund.
