The city title was granted by King Alfonso XII, recognizing Chiclana's importance due to its population growth and industrial and commercial development, and was published in the Gaceta de Madrid on August 25 of that year.
As a public company, Loterías aims to connect with society through celebrations that highlight shared roots and social cohesion. The National Lottery, with its long tradition, serves as a unifying element that contributes to building a common history and shared values.
The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, expressed his gratitude to Loterías y Apuestas del Estado for this gesture. "For a National Lottery ticket to bear the image of our city and commemorate this 150th anniversary represents an extraordinary recognition and a magnificent opportunity to promote the name of Chiclana throughout Spain," he stated.
Román emphasized that the anniversary symbolizes "a century and a half of history, growth, and transformation, thanks to the efforts of generations of Chiclana's residents who have contributed to making Chiclana a modern, dynamic city with enormous potential." He highlighted the pride in having such a significant date immortalized on a popular and beloved medium like the National Lottery ticket.
The mayor encouraged citizens to purchase the ticket as a memento of a historic year and as an invitation to visit Chiclana. Ten million tickets will be sold, distributing 42 million euros in prizes and carrying the city's name across the country.
