The incident occurred this Monday, shortly after noon, on José Ramos Borrero street in San Fernando. A parked car began to burn, and initial indications point to an electrical fault as the cause. The driver noticed a small flame upon parking and unsuccessfully sought an extinguisher in nearby shops.
An alert was issued to Emergencias 112 (112 Andalusia Emergency Service), as well as to the local and national police. Police officers and a fire brigade team quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
Fortunately, only material damage was reported. However, the flames spread rapidly before the emergency services arrived. The car where the fire originated, a Ford Focus, was completely destroyed, as was one of the adjacent vehicles. Another car also sustained damage, though less severe.
The incident drew the attention of residents and passersby, as the fire produced a large column of black smoke that was visible from a considerable distance.
