The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, inaugurated the exhibition ‘Animalarivm’, composed of illustrations by Javier Palacios focusing on the fauna of the La Barrosa Pine Forest. The event was also attended by the delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, and the author himself.
Javier Palacios created these illustrations for a book about the fauna inhabiting the Pinar del Público de La Barrosa. These artworks have been donated to the city of Chiclana and are housed in the deposit of the Chiclana Museum, now being showcased in this exhibition.
The mayor highlighted that Javier Palacios possesses the ability to perceive the richness of the La Barrosa Pine Forest, encompassing both its vegetation and fauna. He emphasized that the exhibition encourages greater appreciation for the pine forest, noting that "many people go to the pinar and only notice the pine trees, but there are many other species and very important animal life."
For his part, Javier Palacios expressed gratitude to the mayor for his interest in this project concerning the flora and fauna of the pine forest. The author mentioned enjoying the project in three distinct phases: drawing the illustrations, the book's publication, and now the exhibition setup at the Museum, adding that "some of the animals featured in the exhibition are very difficult to observe in situ due to their minuscule size."
The exhibition ‘Animalarivm’, open to the public until August 30, marks the midpoint of the Chiclana Museum's exhibition program for 2026, a year celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Chiclana being granted the title of City.
