Excavation work for the basin of the summer pool being built by the San Fernando City Council on a plot in Ronda del Estero has begun. This new phase starts after the piling work for the future leisure complex structure has been fully completed. Concurrently, progress is being made on the sanitation and rainwater drainage systems, which have already reached 60% completion.
This project will allow San Fernando to have an outdoor public swimming pool again, 23 years after the closure of the one at Almirante Laulhé Park. The works, which started after Easter, involve an investment of over 2.7 million euros and have a construction period of seven and a half months.
According to the City Council, "the works are currently progressing according to the planned schedule and are in a fundamental phase to ensure the solidity and durability of the future facility." The site survey report, initiating the work on drainage systems and deep foundations, was signed on April 20th.
Due to the geotechnical characteristics of the land, close to the marshlands, the piling work required deep foundations using driven piles to ensure structural stability. Excavations for the pool basin are now underway for the subsequent placement of concrete slabs.
“"The new summer pool will be an accessible infrastructure designed for the enjoyment of all families in the city, but also a new attraction that will enhance San Fernando's capacity to attract visitors and generate economic activity."
The mayoress, Patricia Cavada, highlighted the importance of this action "within the transformation process the city is currently undergoing." She emphasized that the Plan Salto, which includes this 72 million euro investment, is enabling progress on strategic projects that improve the city, create jobs, and offer new opportunities.
The works are being carried out by the company JOCON Infraestructuras S.L., with an investment of 2,743,987.59 euros (VAT included) and a planned execution period of seven and a half months.
