The event, starting at 9:00 AM, aims to provide the public with an opportunity to enjoy the sport. The competition will include Junior, Veteran (over 50 years old), and Absolute categories, with the latter featuring both singles and doubles. Four trophies will be awarded per category, along with special prizes for the best local player and the top female participant. The tournament format will consist of an initial group stage followed by knockout rounds.
The municipal delegate for Sports, Isabel Butrón, praised the efforts of José Luis Navarrete, president of the Chiclana Table Tennis Club, in promoting the sport in the city. Butrón encouraged residents to attend this competition, which is expected to draw over fifty participants.
José Luis Navarrete explained that approximately 150 entries are anticipated, as some players will compete in multiple categories. Athletes from various towns in the province of Cádiz, as well as from Seville and Málaga, have confirmed their participation.
Miguel González, president of the Vipren Foundation, highlighted José Luis Navarrete's long-standing work in establishing table tennis as a key sport in Chiclana.
