The city of Chiclana hosted this morning the Plenary Session of the Regulatory Council of the Marco de Jerez Wine, coinciding with the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of its City title. The mayor, José María Román, and the delegate for Economic Development, Manuela Pérez, acted as hosts alongside the Council's president, César Saldaña, and representatives from the wine production and commercialization sectors of the region.
Mayor Román expressed his gratitude to César Saldaña and the Council's representatives for choosing Chiclana to hold this plenary session, emphasizing that the granting of the City title was due to the significance of vineyards and wine in its history. He highlighted the importance of Chiclana being a full member of the Marco de Jerez, recognizing the strength of this brand worldwide.
For his part, César Saldaña congratulated Chiclana on its anniversary and highlighted the diversity of the Marco de Jerez, where each locality contributes unique elements. He stressed that Chiclana, with its connection to the sea, the Moscatel grape, and a long tradition, has been fundamental to the history of wine in the area, keeping it alive in the city's daily life and not just in museums or history books.
