The campaign, under the slogan “I don't want scary stories. I want colors, joy, dreams”, aims to reaffirm the collective and institutional commitment to eradicating gender-based violence, considering it a violation of human rights and a manifestation of inequality.
The councilor for the area, Ana Matilde Expósito, highlighted the importance of equality education as a fundamental tool to prevent gender violence from the earliest stages of life. "This year we wanted our campaign to have a broad perspective, paying special attention to prevention, equality education, raising awareness among young people, and identifying the different manifestations of gender violence," she stated.
Particular concern is given to violence exerted in digital environments, where control, harassment, and non-consensual image dissemination can become new tools of domination against women, especially among young people.
The program, which will run throughout November, includes activities such as the radio program "La vecina de la puerta violeta" on digital violence, the Municipal Family School for equality education from childhood, an exhibition of posters against gender violence created by students, and workshops like "¿Qué me estás cantando?" to analyze sexist messages in songs.
Other initiatives include the event "Contra la violencia de género, Da la nota" for the educational community, the workshop "Desafinando mitos: Escucha, cuestiona y transforma" (Tuning out myths: Listen, question, and transform), and projects like "Game Over al machismo" in Primary Education and the Escape Room "Tirando del hilo" (Pulling the thread) in Secondary Education, which use participatory methodologies to identify and question sexist behaviors.
The campaign will culminate on November 25th with an institutional concentration and manifesto reading at 12:00 PM on Avenida Príncipe Felipe, an event open to all citizens. The institutional commitment will continue with the reading of the manifesto at the November Municipal Plenary session.
Ana Matilde Expósito, accompanied by women from the Local Council for Women, emphasized the collaboration of various municipal departments, educational centers, associations, and entities in making the campaign possible. She assured that the work of prevention, support for victims, and promotion of equality will be ongoing throughout the year.
