María Espejo, First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture and Tourism, alongside representatives from the 'Ciudad de Jaén' Flamenco Cultural Association, the Caja Rural Foundation, and the Andrés de Vandelvira Higher Conservatory of Music, has unveiled the eighth edition of the International Flamenco Festival. Organized by the 'Ciudad de Jaén' Flamenco Cultural Association with sponsorship from the Municipal Culture Board, the event seeks to highlight flamenco as part of Andalusian identity and position Jaén on the flamenco map.
The festival will commence on November 19 with the show 'Flamencos del Ronquío' at the Teatro Darymelia at 8:30 PM. This performance will feature the Ensemble de Vientos de Raíz and young flamenco artists. During the event, the Silla Flamenca award will be presented to the singer Ángeles Toledano.
On November 20, the Teatro Darymelia will host 'Maestros a Escena', featuring artists such as Mara Rey, Claudia la Debla, and Daniel Ramos. On November 21, masterclasses in bulerías will be led by Mara Rey and in dance by Claudia la Debla at the El Tabanco Art School. Daniel Ramos will conduct the final masterclass on Sunday.
Also on November 21, the flamenco show for children and families, 'Maren & Quito' by Compañía Almazarte Danza, will be presented at the Hermanos Maristas Auditorium at 6 PM. This company from Úbeda has been nominated for the PAD 'Andaluces de la Danza' awards.
The festival's grand finale will be on November 22 with the flamenco fashion show 'Flor de Cerezo' by Verónica Cerezo in the Plaza de Santa María at 2 PM, followed by the closing ceremony at 2:30 PM with the traditional flamenco dance flashmob. The public is invited to learn the choreography, which will be released on social media next week.
Patricio Lupiáñez, president of the Caja Rural de Jaén Foundation, emphasized the foundation's pleasure in collaborating with this established project, which extends beyond training and opens doors for local talent.
