This recognition, published last Wednesday by the Ministry, places Mengíbar among the five Spanish municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants that have received this distinction. Consequently, the town joins the Innpulso Network, a platform that already brings together 128 Spanish cities committed to promoting innovation and scientific development at the local level.
“"This distinction recognizes municipalities that are committed to innovative local policies capable of transforming their communities and solving the daily challenges of their citizens."
The Innpulso Network, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, serves as a forum to acknowledge and promote local innovation policies. Its main objective is to strengthen collaboration among city councils, enhance the innovative potential of its members, and facilitate their access to key R&D&I instruments available at both national and European levels.
Mengíbar's inclusion in this network strengthens the presence of the province of Jaén in national innovation forums, establishing the town as a regional benchmark in implementing local scientific policies. This is a significant step for Mengíbar, which has a notable history in the industry and agriculture of the Jaén countryside, now moving towards a municipal model based on knowledge and innovation.
