The Martos City Council and the Fundación Caja Rural de Jaén have formalized an agreement for the publication of two new issues of the cultural magazine Aldaba and the donation of 70 books, thereby reinforcing the promotion of reading and local heritage.
The mayor of Martos, Emilio Torres, and the patron of the Fundación Caja Rural de Jaén, María Dolores Aguayo, have signed a collaboration agreement that ensures the editing and distribution of issues 58 and 59 of the emblematic magazine Aldaba. This agreement includes an economic contribution of 2,000 euros from the Foundation, highlighting the shared commitment of both entities to the preservation and dissemination of Martos' cultural legacy.
Additionally, a second agreement has been signed for the donation of 70 books, which will be distributed free of charge among users of the Martos municipal library to commemorate Book Day.

"I want to express my double gratitude to the Fundación Caja Rural de Jaén. I consider the Foundation Caja Rural de Jaén's work in supporting culture through patronage to be extremely important. We receive this batch of books, which will be made available to the people of Martos, with great joy."
Mayor Torres emphasized that Martos is immersed in the celebration of Book Day with a program comprising some thirty activities, and highlighted the deep-rooted tradition of Aldaba magazine in the municipality.
“
"We renew a commitment that particularly excites us because it directly touches the sensitive core of this municipality: its culture and its identity. In a world where everything moves so fast, for a magazine to maintain this level of quality and a clear commitment to paper is a true luxury for Martos and for the entire province."
For her part, Aguayo expressed the Foundation's satisfaction in renewing this cultural commitment and stated her wish that the donated books reach the hands of all residents of Martos, thus fostering reading.
The Martos City Council has organized an extensive cultural agenda throughout April, as part of Book Month. The program, presented by Mayor Emilio Torres and Culture Councilor, Elena Molina, runs from April 9 to 26 and includes nearly twenty proposals for all audiences, many of them also in the outlying districts.
Literary activities include presentations of 'De la raíz al vuelo' by Eva Rubia (on April 17) and 'Yo, el último ciudadano' by Manuel Resa (on April 23). The offer is complemented by theatrical performances at the Municipal Theater, such as 'Poncia', starring Lolita Flores (on April 18), and children's shows like 'La costurerita valiente' (on April 19), 'La semilla' (on April 22), and 'Bichitos' (on April 25).
The central event of Book Day will take place on April 24 at the Municipal House of Culture, featuring workshops, reading animation activities, participation from local bookstores, and the awards ceremony for the bookmark contest. The program concludes with nocturnal hiking routes with astronomical observation, conferences on heritage, guided tours, and a dance exhibition by local schools at the end of the month.
