The Department of Equality has implemented a new tent and updated signage to make this space more visible, accessible, and closer to citizens. The aim is to reaffirm the municipal commitment to promoting safe celebrations free from any form of aggression.
The incorporation of the new tent improves the service conditions, providing a more suitable environment to offer support, guidance, and accompaniment to those who may need it during the festive days. The Councilor for Equality, Ana Matilde Expósito, highlighted that the Violet Point is an essential resource and its reinforcement is a firm commitment from the governing team.
Expósito emphasized the importance of maintaining the Violet Point's presence throughout the entire festive program, as prevention and awareness cannot be limited to a specific moment. She stressed the initiative's reivindicative nature, stating that festivities should be spaces of freedom for everyone, especially women, and that there is no room for machismo, harassment, or sexual assault.
Beyond direct attention, the Violet Point carries out significant educational and awareness-raising work. "Feminism is also built through prevention, education, and the involvement of all citizens," stated the councilor, calling on citizens to be aware of and utilize this resource.
The fight against gender-based violence is a shared responsibility, and the Violet Point symbolizes the collective commitment to free, safe, and egalitarian festivities. Additionally, a breastfeeding and childcare room will be set up to facilitate family reconciliation during the celebrations.
