IES Llano de la Viña in Villatorres has commemorated its 25th anniversary with an emotional institutional ceremony held at the assembly hall of the Villargordo Town Hall. The event brought together former teachers, alumni, families, and institutional representatives to celebrate a quarter-century of educational history in the municipality.
The institute's director, Elena Martínez, opened the event by highlighting the center's evolution and advocating for public education as an engine for equality. She unveiled the new logo that will guide the IES in the coming years. Subsequently, Diego Calles, who was present at the center's inauguration, shared anecdotes from the early days, accompanied by a projection of images and videos reviewing decades of activities, trips, and generations of students.
Former director Joaquín Linde recalled his time leading the center and dedicated an emotional remembrance to deceased teachers and students. The mayor of Villatorres emphasized the institute's importance as a cultural and social driver, while the representative of the AMPA Villatorres Joven, María José Gutiérrez, valued the collaboration between families and teaching staff.
“"Public education is the engine that balances inequalities and opens paths for everyone equally."
The highlight of the ceremony was the testimony of five students from different graduating classes, whose words of gratitude shared hundreds of personal stories. The event concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative tile that will be permanently installed at the center.
