Adamuz became the center of political attention during the final days of the campaign for the Andalusian elections. The candidate for re-election for the Popular Party (PP), Juanma Moreno, brought up the train accident that occurred in January, resulting in 46 fatalities, during the Canal Sur debate. This mention prompted a reaction from the town's mayor, Rafael Moreno, who defended his party, the PSOE, and criticized the coordination of emergency services.

As a consequence of this controversy, the PP achieved a resounding 53.64% of the votes in Adamuz, garnering 1,272 ballots and increasing their lead by 6.18% compared to the 2022 elections. These results double those obtained by the PSOE, which has seen a loss of over 6% in votes. The third political force in the town is Por Andalucía, closely followed by Vox and Adelante Andalucía.

This outcome starkly contrasts with the municipal elections of 2023, where the PSOE, led by Rafael Moreno, managed to retain the mayoralty after a no-confidence vote in 2021 and formed a pact with Izquierda Unida. At that time, the socialist party secured over 1,200 votes, double the number achieved now.

The recent election campaign was marked by the intervention of President Juanma Moreno, who highlighted the work of the Junta de Andalucía following the train disaster. In response, Rafael Moreno, the mayor of Adamuz, broke the silence to criticize the lack of coordination among emergency services. This situation sparked a new debate in the Parliament of Andalusia, with differing views on the efforts of the local residents and the alleged pressure from the PSOE on the mayor.
