In an interview published this Sunday in 'El Correo de Andalucía' and other Prensa Ibérica media outlets, Moreno expressed his surprise and concern regarding the latest Civil Guard report. This report revealed a track break 22 hours before the incident, which, in his opinion, indicates a clear lack of maintenance.
The Andalusian president criticized ADIF's management, noting that material was removed from the accident site despite judicial orders, leading to reprimands from the investigating judge. He emphasized the seriousness of trains operating on a broken track without the problem being detected, suggesting failures in safety systems.
“"ADIF is taking too long to assume responsibilities. There has been a lack of maintenance on the railway line and in the safety equipment."
Regarding the actions of the Junta de Andalucía, Moreno stated he was “completely calm” about the emergency services' response. He acknowledged a temporary digital system failure of the 061, but assured that operations continued analogically and that “an ambulance arrived at the center every minute,” refuting any dereliction of duty.
On another note, concerning the Andalusian elections on May 17, Moreno admitted the difficulty of securing a sufficient majority due to political fragmentation. Nevertheless, he expressed optimism about the possibility of achieving it, though aware that if successful, it would be by a very narrow margin.
Finally, the president of the Junta ruled out a potential move to the central government if Alberto Núñez Feijóo became president, reaffirming that his “priority and motivation” is Andalucía. He stated he would not leave his position to become a minister, criticizing the devaluation of this role in the current Government of Spain.
