The Thursday, July 2nd day was characterized as one of the hottest of the year in the province of Córdoba, with a yellow alert for high temperatures. Montoro was the most affected municipality, recording 42.9 degrees at 4:50 PM. A few days prior, this same town had already reached 45.1 degrees.
Nationally, only El Granado (with 43.4 degrees) and Badajoz (with 43.3 degrees) surpassed the maximum temperature recorded in Montoro on Thursday. In sixth place on the national ranking was Fuente Palmera, where the mercury reached 42.4 degrees at 6:50 PM.
Córdoba capital was not far behind, reaching 42.3 degrees at 5:40 PM. Other municipalities in the province that exceeded 40 degrees included La Rambla, with 41.4 degrees.
The intense heat situation is expected to continue through Friday and Saturday, with yellow alerts for both days. Temperatures in Córdoba capital are anticipated to be around 40 and 41 degrees, respectively. Forecasts point to an increase to 42 degrees on Sunday and 43 degrees at the beginning of the following week, although these figures are subject to confirmation.
Nights will also offer little respite, as the thermometer is expected not to drop below 22 degrees, making sleep difficult.
