The Parents' Association (AMPA) of the Poeta Molleja school, along with families affected by heatstroke incidents, called for a protest in front of the Villa del Río City Hall. The mobilization brought together students, parents, family members, and neighbors to demand an immediate solution to the school's air conditioning problems.
Families stated that it is unacceptable for students to endure extreme temperatures in classrooms, with situations leading to heatstroke in several minors. Numerous students attended with protest signs to highlight the conditions under which they are forced to carry out their school activities.
The protest received support from the municipal groups of Izquierda Unida and PSOE of Villa del Río, as well as from the Andalusian regional deputy Rosa María Rodríguez. However, families regretted the absence of representatives from the municipal government, feeling neglected regarding an issue that directly affects student health.
Competent administrations were urged to use the summer period to carry out the necessary actions to adequately air-condition the classrooms of CEIP Poeta Molleja and prevent risky situations for children's health next academic year.
The organization highly valued the significant participation and support received, expressing confidence that the mobilization will help accelerate a definitive solution for students to start the next academic year in dignified and safe conditions.
